KREIS GROSS-GERAU - With the signing of the cooperation agreement on Tuesday, November 21, District Administrator Thomas Will and the two ryon managing directors Steffen Bruckner (commercial division) and Jörg von Hagen (technical division) made it official: The district of Groß-Gerau is joining the Rhine-Main-Neckar GreenTech Cluster, thus sending a strong signal for the promotion of sustainable ideas and the creation of qualified jobs in the district of Groß-Gerau.
The District Administrator emphasized this at the meeting: "The cooperation with the Green-Tech Accelerator is a gain for the district of Groß-Gerau. The project to establish start-ups and companies from the green tech sector on the FLUXUM technology park site in Gernsheim and to further develop the Merck site fits in well with our landscape. I am certain that both sides will benefit from the cooperation described in the agreement." The cooperation does not involve any costs for the district. Ryon GreenTech Accelerator offers services related to renewable energies for companies in the fields of chemistry, biotechnology, materials science and engineering. It is based at the FLUXUM Park in Gernsheim am Rhein, where Merck is also located. The project was initiated and launched by GreenTech Accelerator Gernsheim GmbH, consisting of Goethe University Frankfurt am Main, TU Darmstadt, the science and technology company Merck, Hessen Trade & Invest (HTAI) and Wirtschafts- und Infrastrukturbank Hessen (WI Bank).
Before the agreement was signed in the district administrator's office, the participants discussed ryon's goals and opportunities. In addition to the two managing directors, Dr. Stefan Fandel, Head of Site Development GreenTech-Park FLUXUM, and Julian Wenzel, Head of Marketing, Communication & Public Relations GreenTech-Park, also took part in the meeting on the ryon side. In addition to the District Administrator, Sven Christiansen, Head of Regional Development, Economy and Environment, and Jonas Margraff, Head of Economic Services, attended from the district administration.
"With the district of Groß-Gerau, we have succeeded in bringing a strong partner into our network, which in turn carries the message of our GreenTech Accelerator out into the entire region. We would like to thank the district administrator and the district's business development department for this successful start to the cooperation," said Steffen Bruckner, who had previously introduced the company in a short presentation. It became clear that ryon's aim is to develop the FLUXUM Park site in the long term, to provide start-ups in the field of sustainable technology with laboratory and office space as well as options for expanding their company on the Gernsheim campus at a later date so that they can go into production there. This is "qualitative growth", as Sven Christiansen was pleased to note.
The cluster set up by ryon does not only thrive on the number of members, but above all on the interaction and willingness of the companies, facilities and institutions to make their contribution to promoting start-ups. The network includes not only the district's business development agency, but also the Technology, Innovation and Start-up Center (TIGZ) in Ginsheim-Gustavsburg, for example, which is also committed to promoting sustainable start-ups.
