Founding of the Operating Company

A so-called #accelerator for start-ups in the field of #environmental technologies (green tech) is to be built on the grounds of the FLUXUM green tech park in Gernsheim. At the end of March, the signatures were placed under the letter of intent, and now the next step follows: the science and technology company Merck, the Wirtschafts- und Infrastrukturbank Hessen (WIBank), the state-owned economic development company Hessen Trade & Invest GmbH (HTAI) and the Technical University of Darmstadt and Goethe University Frankfurt have founded an operating company that will take over the construction and operation of the accelerator. The two universities involved will provide the transfer from #science to environmental technology practice. In the future, cooperation with other universities is planned. The project is accompanied by a working group in which the Hessian Ministries of Finance, Economics, Science and Digital Affairs also participate.

The Accelerator is to start its work this year on interim premises at FLUXUM Gernsheim, and in early 2025 an additional purpose-built building will go into operation, comprising laboratory, pilot plant and office space. The Accelerator is intended to support industrial GreenTech start-ups in their technical and business development. In addition, it is to broker partnerships with investors and large companies and provide infrastructure as needed. Already established companies will also be given the opportunity to develop #GreenTech innovations, #business models and #start-ups there.

The offer is aimed at companies that deal with innovative and sustainable topics such as energy efficiency, circular economy or future mobility solutions. The aim is to make Gernsheim a centre for GreenTech in the region in the long term, offering ideal framework conditions for green innovations.
